City Of Sydney Allows Free Use Of Its Halls For Same-Sex Weddings

(reported by ARPA Australia)

The City of Sydney has passed a motion which will allow same-sex couples free use of its halls and facilities to host weddings during the first 100 days after same-sex marriage is legalised. Heterosexual couples will still be required to pay for facility hire.

The vote was not unanimous, with one lesbian councillor slamming the decision because it “replaced old discrimination with new discrimination” and could harm the ‘Yes’ campaign.
