Western Australia’s Equal Opportunity Commission is hosting a public forum from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Thursday 15th March at the State Library Lecture Theatre. The forum, ‘Has political correctness gone mad?’, will address whether laws put in place to deter people from causing offence are impinging on other rights such as freedom of speech and expression.
Panellists will include Gillian Triggs (former President of the Australian Human Rights Commission), Anne Aly (member for Cowan), Peter van Onselen (UWA Professor and political commentator) as well as Peter Abetz (former state member for Southern River and current WA Director of the Australian Christian Lobby).
This forum is very timely given that the WA Government is considering changes to the Equal Opportunity Act. Christian representation in the audience would be appreciated by Peter Abetz in particular. Attendance is free but you must register in advance here.
